Fall Creek in central Indiana
Fall Creek :

Below Geist Reservoir

79th Street Bridge (in Marion County)

Parking: The easiest access to the river is at the northeast corner of the 79th Street bridge, where Indianapolis Public Works has a sewer lift station and a gravel parking lot large enough for about 6 cars.

Path to River: Access to the river is just a 50 yard carry on a path down a grassy, gradual slope.

River Access: Unless the river is very high there is a large flat bank with room to linger and load several boats. Also, at least 6 boats can be put in the water at a time.

Additional Access

It is also possible to park behind/beside the Kroger grocery store at the southwest corner of the 79th Street bridge. There is plenty of parking available in the northeast corner of their parking lot, but a 50 yard carry through the weeds to the river makes this alternate put-in less than desirable.

Important: The river is constantly changing. Hazards like log jams and tree falls will come and go, so always be ready for them. Riffles will appear and disappear based on water flow levels. Do not attempt boating on this or any river during high water. Please be safe, respectful and responsible on the river.
