Dam
No River Access: Located at 10153 Fall Creek
Parkway, Geist Dam is not recommended as an access
point. The area is gated, and there is a sign
posted at the gate reading, "No Trespassing",
"Restricted Area" and "Violators
Will Be Prosecuted". It seems clear that you
are unwelcome to launch at Geist Dam.
Portaging: We are not sure about the feasibility
of, and we do not recommend, portaging around the
dam (should somebody wish to paddle from the reservoir
to the river), though it has been reported that
one may be able to portage over the right side of
the dam. The report said to look for fishermen's
trails through the weeds and trees back to Fall
Creek below the spillway (about a 500 yard carry).
